Towards 21st Century Leaders: Creating a Deliberately Developmental Environment

Abstract

Research suggests the limiting factor in an organizational transformation is the nature and quality of the mindset of the leaders who initiate and lead that transformation. This is good news and bad news for us. The bad news is that there are few leaders who, at present, are fully up to this momentous task. The good news is, the path to growing leadership maturity is well-understood. In this session, the Michaels will take you through the terrain of leadership development, from levels and stages, to the path of an individual in transformation, to setting up an effective program to help cohorts of leaders hold accountability and support each other's' growth, creating deliberately developmental environments that create sustainable transformation.

Bio

For the last 17 years, Michael Hamman has specialized in bringing holistic and developmental disciplines and approaches to coaching, consulting, and teaching Agility within large organizational settings. Along the way, he has helped dozens of Fortune 500 companies and teams, and hundreds of leaders and coaches toward greater holistic team and enterprise-level agility. His book, Evolvagility: Growing an Agile Leadership Culture from the Inside Out, published in January 2019, integrates this rich and varied background and experience. It provides a blueprint for what it means to be an agile leader in today’s complex world, and offers a practical roadmap for getting there. Ever-dedicated to the possibility that the workplace be a site for personal, professional and social transformation, Michael is currently a co-founder of The Collective Edge.
